Article 323-1 of the French criminal law stipulates that the penalty for fraudulently accessing or remaining in all or part of an automated data processing system (i.e. a website) is two years in prison and a fine of 30,000 euros. Article 323-3 of the same code stipulates that the penalty for fraudulently introducing data into an automated processing system for or fraudulently deleting or modifying the data it contains is five years in prison and a fine of 75,000 euros.
